Our Civil Rights Lawyers Explain Your Rights As An American
Representing Clients in the Bronx and Westchester

Both our Federal and New York State  Constitution as well as statutory and case law provide protections and remedies to recover monetary damages resulting from civil rights violations. The roadway to recovery, however, is very complicated and filled with obstacles. The first obstacle is the requirement that, as a rule, state law claims  must be filed within 90 days of accusal–few exceptions apply.

Most of our civil rights clients are referred to us by attorneys who practice criminal law but are not experienced in navigating the civil right litigation maze. Do not learn the hard way; make sure the lawyer you choose is experienced in both state and federal courts.

Two of our last three civil right verdicts in Federal Court have also resulted in an imposition of punitive damages again police departments or officers. Such results are not easily replicated.  It takes a law firm with experience and dedication.  In these same two cases, our clients, the victims of police abuse, were retired police officers.

Examples of Discrimination  and Employment Violations

We serve a diverse clientele,  and offer services in a variety of civil rights areas including:

  • victims of police misconduct, including people who are the victims of police brutality, false arrest, improper searches, etc.
  • government employees, including local, state and federal employees who are the victims of wrongful termination, harassment, discrimination or retaliation based on race, religion, gender, disability, age and other protected classes. We also represent whistleblower cases for those  who have been wrongfully discharged, harassed or retaliated against for the exercise of free speech or other constitutionally protected acts
  • victims of government misconduct, including immigrants whose rights have been violated, people First Amendment rights have been violated, and individuals whose rights under the constitution, state and federal laws have been denied; and
  • Criminal defendants, including people charged with misdemeanor and federal crimes. Many are subjected to police misconduct
  • Civil lawsuits for religious intolerance, racially motivated violence or other hate crimes
